Philoptochos is the duly accredited international women's
philanthropic organization of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
Philoptochos, the "right hand of our church, is comprised of Orthodox Christian
Ladies who join together to serve God and His Church by giving aid to
individuals, charities, and their own parish church. All ladies, age 18 years
or older, who are Orthodox are considered members of Philoptochos. Local
Chapter By Laws have broadened this definition of membership to include all
ladies associated with the Saint George community who whish to join.
Members are expected to pay annual dues of $20($15 for National and Metropolis
dues, $5 for the local chapter).
Philoptochos Chapter meeting are held on the first Tuesday of
the month at 6:30 pm. Generally, Chapter meetings do not take place in
June, July, and August.
Philoptochos organizes a variety of fundraising activities
throughout the year to suppport their philanthropic programs. Notewory
Philoptochos endeavors include the dring booth at Chili-Fest, Holiday Bake
Sale, Vasilopita Auction, Greek Independence Day Luncheon, and the Butterfly
Release.
